Thank You and Best Wishes from Valley Conservation Council

Dear Friends:

Scenic rolling fields, orchards, vineyards, farms of the Valley. Blue mountains and wild forests with spectacular fall color of the Highlands. Rolling rivers that bend and twist throughout the Shenandoah and Upper James watersheds. Whether we enjoy the Valley, the Highlands or the Rivers – they are part of us and why we love it here.

We lose nearly 40 acres of farmland every hour – and once farms are bulldozed and paved over that land is gone forever.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

You can make sure that local families can conserve their lands – so that farming can be here in the Shenandoah Valley for generations to come.

Imagine what you can do.

More family farms, grazing land, and forests in more communities throughout the Valley will remain part of our rural and cultural heritage, never paved over or subdivided just so the bills can be paid. Roads and subdivisions will not be named after the scenic farms they have destroyed as in Northern Virginia.

You will also be helping to:
Continue the restoration and protection of the streams of the Upper James and Shenandoah River watersheds.
Provide free programs to kids who might not have a change to enjoy and appreciate our farms, rivers and forests. If they care about the land as kids, we know from research they are much more likely to care about the land as adults.

In short, you are playing an important role in the future of conservation in the Shenandoah Valley.

Your tax deductible year-end gift can help make sure that rural Shenandoah Valley and Virginia Highlands as we know and cherish them will be protected, and it will help to ensure that today’s kids will love the land as you and I do.

Together we are conserving the lands and communities that make our Shenandoah a great place to live, learn, work and play. Thank you and best wishes to you and yours for a happy holiday season.

Warmly,
