Babette joined VCC in 2022 and serves as the Northern Valley Field Representative. She works with VCC’s to build and advance conservation opportunities and support in Page, Warren, Shenandoah and Frederick Counties. She is happy to be back home in Virginia, after spending 16 wonderful years working with farmers, ranchers, funders and two strong regional land trusts to conserve thousands of acres of working lands and wildlife habitat in eastern Idaho. Before heading west in 2004, she worked for ten years for the Piedmont Environmental Council in Albemarle County, where she learned the practice of conservation from some of the best in the business. She grew up on a family farm in southern Fauquier County, where her love for the outdoors grew with the time she spent on the seat of a tractor. She and her husband John live on the Shenandoah River in Page County, on land protected with a conservation easement over 20 years ago. They spend their spare time renovating an old farmhouse, hiking and replacing invasive species with native shrubs.
