Wren Frueh joined VCC in 2022 as the Office Manager. She grew up in the valley and hails from Bridgewater in Rockingham County. Wren graduated from Grinnell College in 2021 with a BA in Agriculture and Sustainable Development. As a senior capstone, she conducted an ethnography of farmers in central Iowa and their relationships to local food. She also had the opportunity to travel the world and learn from sustainability activists and smallholder farmers in Ecuador, Malawi, and Italy. Before VCC, Wren worked as a restoration assistant at the Conard Environmental Research Area, a tallgrass prairie conservation and restoration project where she helped manage invasive species, assisted in cutting edge research, and worked controlled burns.
Wren loves being able to call the mountains home, and loves exploring the Shenandoah Valley and all it has to offer. When not in the office, Wren can be found visiting local farmer’s markets, listening to local bluegrass, or playing Dungeons and Dragons.
