Special Opportunity for Landowners

With generous support from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the Valley Conservation Council works with farmers and other landowners in Augusta County (North, Middle, and South rivers) and in Rockingham and Shenandoah counties (Smith Creek Watershed) to overlay permanent conservation easements on farms and forestlands that have applied best-management practices such as livestock exclusion and riparian forested buffers.

The purpose of this work is three-fold: to conserve working lands, to improve water quality in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, and to enhance our farmers’ bottom lines.

As part of the “Land & Water Connections” program, VCC provides incentive payments up to $10,000 to individual participants to complement existing tax benefits available to them as easement donors.

For more information about the “Land & Water Connections” program, please contact VCC at info@valleyconservation.org or 540.886.3541.
